Lifecycle management

Lifecycle management automates Teams user management. What it can do depends on the tenant's license type:

• Hosted Essential + — you apply templates by hand. This is useful mainly for assigning phone numbers to many users at once from a .csv file, rather than editing them one at a time.
• Hosted Pro — you can define several templates, each bound to a Microsoft Entra ID security group. Adding a user to a group can enable them for Teams and apply that group's policies and telephony settings automatically, including a number drawn from a predefined range.

To assign numbers automatically rather than from a file, define where the numbers come from:

• Configure a phone number range — define the numbers that lifecycle management draws from
• Configure a phone numbers bundle — group several ranges together
• Configure reserved numbers — keep numbers back from automatic assignment
